

He was born July 15, 1929 in Palo Alto, CA., the son of Hazel and Alfred R. Masters, Sr. He was a 1947 graduate of Palo Alto High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s from U.C. Berkeley. He proudly served our Nation as a member of the United States Coast Guard.
Al was a person who loved life and lived it to the fullest right up until the end. He had a passion for golf and enjoyed spending months at a time visiting his children; Sailing every summer with his eldest son Skip, enjoying family times with Jim, and even winning or losing a buck or two while golfing with his daughter Kim. He loved to travel and went on several cruises and golf vacations with his companion, Ruth. He was a successful salesman for many interesting companies.
He is survived by his two sons: Alfred “Skip” R. Masters, III and his wife Peggy of Portland, OR and James C. Masters and his wife Lynn of North Tustin, CA, daughter: Kim Vickery and her husband Scott of Keene, NH, and ten grandchildren: Nick, Sam, Stacey, Steve, Jeni, Sarah, Brian, Jaclyn, Chris, and Kate, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his special companion: Ruth Jobert of Keene, NH and his first wife and the mother of his children: Sue McCaffrey of Moraga, CA. He is predeceased by his sister: Jane Masters Roswell.
Services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
