
She was born in Lewiston Maine, on April 30, 1923, the daughter of Austin and Eudora Beryl (Heath) Tucker. She graduated from Gorham High in 1942.
Betty married Gerald Maynard Martel while he was in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed working for General Electric during that time in Bridgeport CT. They later moved to Gorham and Gerald went onto becoming a successful banker while they raised three children Jeffrey, their first-born and were later blessed with Craig and Curtis who were twins.
Later on in life Betty moved to Keene and Betty worked for many years at MPB before retiring. Betty loved spending time with her sister Patty, now deceased, who also lived in Keene.
Betty was an avid reader who loved knitting, needlepoint and puzzles.
Survivors include her children: Jeffrey Martel and his wife Karin of Lincoln, NH, Curtis Martel and his wife Donna of Campton, NH, and Craig Martel of Keene and Linda (Heath) Martel of Marlborough, NH; a brother and sister- in-law: Brian Mattson and his wife Virginia of Keene, six grandchildren: Mathew, Rachel, Parker, Mitchell, Kelly and Jeff; as well as two great grandchildren: Devon and Jaxson.
Her family will hold a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. There are no public calling hours or services planned at this time.
