He was born June 1, 1954, in Waltham, MA, the son of Charles F. and Erica (Schiendstricker) Schul. He was a 1972 graduate of Monadnock High School. After High School he followed in the family heritage of serving our Nation as a member of the United States Army. Growing up in a military home gave him the opportunity to see the world and through the work that he was able to do during his years of service, he was able to make a difference in the Nation that he was proud to be a part of.
Upon returning to the Monadnock Region he worked for Kingsbury Machine Tool, in Keene, where he was a machinist. Following his work at Kingsbury’s, Bob found his true talent in construction carpentry. His most recent work had been as a carpenter for CB&I/Stone & Webster at Vermont Yankee. Over the years, Bob worked in both the private and government industry performing housing construction, manufacturing facility construction and any type of construction help his or Peggy’s friends and relatives needed. He was a very skilled and talented craftsman and was always willing to lend a hand to a friend or family member who was in need of his expertise. He was a long time member of the Carpenter’s Union #107 out of Fitchburg, MA and the #108 out of Springfield, MA.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, working on wood-working projects , looking for that next great Ebay® deal, and riding his Harley . He was a very good humored and compassionate person: devoting time to his wife who he cherished and spoiling his nieces and nephews, who even as adults, still lovingly call him “Uncle HoHo”.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Margaret “Peggy” Schul of Troy, his son: Abraham Gautreau and his wife Kathy of Troy, his grandson Abraham Gautreau, Jr., his mother Erica Schul of Henderson, NV, his sister Peggy Biever and her husband John of Henderson, NV, two brothers: Richard Schul and his wife Yesun of Derry, NH and Raymond Schul and his wife Dorothy of San Mateo, CA, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is predeceased by his father.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH., on Wednesday, May 13, 20145 from 5pm to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH. 03446.
