He was born to Gail (Whitney) Metzgar on November 3, 1977 in Wolfeboro, NH.He grew up in the Keene area and graduated from Tilton School in Tilton, NH where he enjoyed playing sports including football, hockey and lacrosse.
On October 9, 2010 he married the love of his life, Sara Capone.
Chris ended a career as a cable lineman in order to take care of his aging grandparents in 2008 and shortly thereafter his grandmother passed away; Chris remained his beloved grandfather’s steady companion and primary caregiver until his Grampa transitioned into eldercare and soon after, joined his wife. After the passing of his grandparents, Chris courageously started and successfully ran his own professional landscaping company for several years. He had a real knack for landscaping and appreciated a finely manicured lawn. Chris was currently employed by Window Master of Dublin as a window restorer. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Marlborough Fire Department where he contributed 6 years of service.
Known for his contagious laughter and ability to see the good in people and love every person he met, Chris’s true passions in life were music and the outdoors. He was a man’s man and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Chris was a wonderfully talented drummer and percussionist and loved spending time making music and casually rating domestic and foreign ales with his friends at Red Barn Research in Troy, NH. One of the most memorable traits that Chris possessed was the ability to be a stand-up kind of man who would take care of who he felt were “his people,” no matter what the circumstances. Chris loved the thrill he would get from putting a smile on another face. Chris’s light will ever shine down on all who loved him because one can never have too many flashlights or too many batteries.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Sara Capone Whitney of Marlborough, and his two step-children, Alison McMahon and John McMahon both of Keene; mother, Gail Metzgar and her husband Jim of The Villages, FL; brother, Jason DeBit and his wife Kelly McGrath and nephew, Ian DeBit of Keene; and uncle, Jim Whitney and his wife Ruth of Portland, OR, as well scores of friends: all will miss him dearly.
