It’s impossible to truly honor Debby with words. Her grace was broader and deeper, stronger and more beautiful than any verse can convey.
Born on March 28, 1952, to Mary Malley and Edward Chipman, Debby was raised in Thomaston CT, where she worked as a librarian and met the man who became her husband of 47 years.
Debby was an artist, a writer, a gardener, and a force of nature.
She was gently radiant and tirelessly kind, quietly fierce and perpetually modest. The depths of her brilliance, humor, and creative energy were boundless. She invited us to cherish beauty in overlooked places- fine stippling on a frog’s back, a wildflower glancing up from the leaf litter. Her eye found joy and goodness without closing to the trials of the world.
Deborah was not diminished by injury or illness. She continued making merry, managing the books, singing, studying, gardening and filling our days with surprises while suffering from an encroaching cancer.
No deficit of energy, no suffering or pain ever caused her to turn aside from love and concern for her friends, family or strangers. She possessed such undiluted grace and astounding strength that her only worries were for her family upon diagnosis.
All who survive her are less for the loss of her. Her generous, caring heart calls us to be more than we are.
A remembrance will be held Saturday, January 17th from 1-3PM at 64 Holman Road in Fitzwilliam NH.
