

She was born in Keene on May 9, 1918, the daughter of Florence (Burgum) and Caleb N. Wright. She grew up in Keene and Sullivan and attended the Sullivan School.
On September 14, 1935 she married Clifton F. Ball. Together they celebrated over forty-five years of marriage before his death on December 13, 1980.
Dorothy was a very strong woman whose life was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cookouts and playing cards. She also worked many hours at the Keene Senior Citizens Center where they named her “Senior Citizen of the Year” in 1981.
Dorothy was an incredible knitter and sewer. She had a real knack for making blankets, scarfs, mittens, and doll clothes. She donated many of her beautiful handcrafted pieces to schools and hospitals for various causes such as Project Share and Project Linus. She was known at Genesis for constantly having many visitors.
Survivor’s include her two daughters: Nancy Dintino and her husband Vic of Keene and Thelma Carpenter of Keene; three sons: Robert Ball and his wife Mary of Keene, William Ball and his wife Eleanor of Keene, and John Ball and his wife Mary of Arizona; her sister Ruth Descoteaux of California; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 24 great great grandchildren; dear friend Dollie Ash who called her “Mom” and made frequent visits; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Clifton F. Ball; grandson: Scott Ball; great granddaughter Hannah Dintino; daughter Joyce Wixon; two sons-in-law: Bruce Wixon and Russell Carpenter; three sisters: Bertha Saltzgiver, Florence LaFargue, and Christine Mullin; two brothers: Paul Wright and Frank Wright; and four brothers-in-law: Jim Saltzgiver, Ed LaFargue, Bill Mullin and Raymond Descoteaux.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 24 at 10:00 am at Fletcher Funeral Home with a burial to follow in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Marlborough, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dorothy W. Ball’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
