She was born in Elizabethtown, New York in 1922 to Arthur and Maud (McManus) Furness. Dot grew up in Saranac Lake, New York, later moving to Florida after her marriage to Frank C. Genz in 1945.
She retired from Allstate Insurance Company after 30 years in St. Petersburg and Panama City, Florida, offices. Upon retirement, she volunteered at the local library and for Meals-on-Wheels in Panama City, Florida, and Aurora, Colorado.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Dot was always up for an adventure, enjoying traveling with friends and family. Always wanting to stay active, she loved exercising, enjoyed aerobics and yoga classes, and was an avid walker. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader, cribbage player and loved gardening, and cooking.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Moul of Seattle, WA and nieces in the DC area. Her husband of 57 years, Frank Genz; daughter Barbara Genz; brother Reginald (Reg) Furness; and son-in-law Jim Moul predeceased her.
Services will be held privately by the family.
