Elaine M Murphy Roberts

She was born in Winchendon, MA, on May 23, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Richards ) Murphy, II. She attended area schools before moving to Keene, Marlborough and then to Winchester.

She married Carl Alexander, Jr. on April 22, 1946, in a ceremony at St. Bernard’s Church in Keene. They were married for 27 years before his death in 1974. Later she married Laurent Roberts on April 15, 1985, in a ceremony in New Paltz, NY. He passed in November 1989.

Mrs. Roberts enjoyed crocheting Afghans, watching the birds in her yard, and in earlier years, bowling. She had won trophies in two different leagues. She was a volunteer with the Symonds School Library as well as the Keene area blood mobiles.

She is survived by a son: Douglas C. Alexander, Sr. of Winchester; three grandchildren: Tara Burdick of Henniker, NH, Crystal Alexander of Virginia Beach, VA, and Douglas C. Alexander, II of Greenfield, NH; a great grandson: Davan Burdick of Henniker, NH; a sister: Elma Kominicki of Swanzy Center, a brother James Murphy of Georgia; five step children, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers: Richard Murphy, Roger Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, and Joseph Murphy,III.

Services for Mrs. Roberts will be private. There will be no Public Calling Hours. Burial will be in the family lot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Keene.
