
Eleanor Livingston Conant of Keene died Friday morning, October 19th, 2012 at Maplewood Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
She was born in Keene, the daughter of Ralph & Johanna (Livingston) Conant, Sr.. She was a graduate of Keene High School and has lived in the area her entire life.
Eleanor worked for Goodnow’s Department Store and also worked for Keene Gas Company for many years before she retired.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keene for 75 years.
Eleanor loved to swim, especially at York Beach while on vacation with friends. She belonged to a luncheon group and a knitting group. She also enjoyed reading, golfing, cooking and holiday dinners with her family. Ogunquit, ME was a favorite family vacation place including time spent walking the Marginal Way and eating at Barnacle Bill’s. She loved lobster!
She is survived by her sister Beverly Conant of Keene; two sisters-in-law Margaret Conant of Winchester and Dot Bond of Keene; nephews David Conant of Keene, Craig Conant, and wife Deana, of Sullivan Island, SC, James Conant, and wife, Anita of Hampton, NH, Stanley Conant, and wife Nikki, of Winchester, Philip Simonds, and wife Barbara, of Brattleboro; nieces Kathy Coonrod of Fayetteville, NC and Marcie Conant of Troy; several great nephews and great nieces; and her long time friend Barbara Simonds of Keene. Eleanor’s father Ralph, mother Johanna, sisters Alice and June; brothers Ralph and Gilbert all died earlier.
Services for Eleanor will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 105 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot in Monadnock View Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
