Elsie L. McHugh

Elsie Lucille McHugh, 83, of Keene, NH, and formerly of Bennington, VT, Providence and Warwick, RI, died peacefully, February 2, 2013, at the Pheasant Wood Care & Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough, NH, from complications due to a fall in her home on January 8th.

She was born in Flint, Michigan on January 22, 1930, the daughter of Joseph Oliver and Ethel Lucille (Duncan) Piche. She moved to Rhode Island in 1934 where she attended Gorton High School.

She relocated to Keene, NH, in 1968 where she worked for many years at the MacMillin Company as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She was previously employed at Dick Cranston Ford in East Greenwich, RI, and Eddington Chevrolet in Bennington, VT.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John F. McHugh of Keene, NH; her two daughters, Sharon and Maureen McHugh, both of Keene, NH; sisters, Rosemary Noble of Warwick, RI, Barbara Jellison of Lisbon Falls, ME, Elizabeth Cartwright of Providence, RI, Patricia Todisco of Johnston, RI, Dr. Sandra Duclos of Pawtucket, RI, Linda Montanaro Santos, Maria Bernard and brother, Luigi Montanaro, all of East Providence, RI; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by siblings; Robert Piche of Providence, RI, Joseph Piche of Coventry, RI, Thomas “Vinnie” Piche of Warwick, RI, William Piche of Kahaluu, HI, Dorothy “Dottie” Bergen of Kingsland, GA, Ruth Haney of Warwick, RI, and Pasco Panama Montanaro, Jr., of Providence, RI.

A committal service will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Rhode Island Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 301 South Country Trail, Exeter, RI. Family and friends are welcome. There are no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. McHugh’s memory to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, NH Chapter, PO Box 183, Londonderry, NH 03053, or to the Alzheimer's Association, MA & NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472, or to a charity of your choice.
