

Her parents, Morris and Sophie (Etts) Pitagno welcomed their daughter into the world on March 30, 1931, in Canarsie, Brooklyn, New York.
On October 25, 1954, Emily was joined in holy matrimony with Jack DeSalvo in the Holy Family Church in Carnise. Following their marriage, she and Jack moved to Valley Stream, Long Island, NY. The couple later moved to Merrick, Long Island, and in 1975, they moved to the area, residing in Spofford, NH and later in Keene.
In her early work career, Emily was a telephone operator with the NY Telephone Company. When she moved to Keene, Emily worked for the National Grange Mutual Insurance Company and later with the Peerless Insurance Company in Keene, working in many capacities for many years. She also worked part-time as a receptionist in the Urgent Care Department of the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, a position she truly loved as it afforded her the opportunity to make many wonderful friendships with so many she met over the years.
A woman of great faith her entire life, Emily was the President of the Children of Mary and served a lifetime of devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was also a member of the Women of Catholic Charities at St. Bernard Church. She was also extremely proud of her Italian heritage.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her son, Jack J. DeSalvo, Jr. and his wife, Eva, of Gainesville, FL; her daughter, Francine DeSalvo of Milford, NH; her beloved grandchildren, Anthony DeSalvo, Alayna DeSalvo-Leyndyke and her husband, Travis, Elisha DeSalvo, Vincent DeSalvo, Bethaney LaClair, Abbey Lynn Lesmerises, Benjamin Clark and his wife, Moira; her great-grandchildren, Emily Sophie LaClair, Elizabeth May LaClair, Amelia Hope Lesmerises, Wyatt Ryan Lesmerises, Isabella DeSalvo; a son-in-law, Stephen Clark of Guilford, VT; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her husband of 66 years, Jack DeSalvo, Sr. predeceased Emily on May 17, 2021. A niece and nephew who meant the world to Emily, Laura Jo Taldi Kelly and Guy Taldi, and a sister, Kathleen Taldi, predeceased her.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5th at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial with committal prayers will follow in the Morningside Cemetery, 246 South Main Street, Brattleboro, VT.
