

He was born in Gilsum, on February 22, 1926, the son of Elmer and Stella (Harris) Davis. He attended local schools and has live in Surry for most of his life.
Mr. Davis served in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged as Seaman 1st Class in 1946.
He married his wife Gladys Lewis on October 22, 1944.
Mr. Davis worked as a machinist for Markem Corp for over 31 years.
He was a member of the Beth-El Bible Church in Surry and also a member of the VFW Post 799, Daley Whipple Post in Keene.
He was a Red Sox fan and his favorite type of dog was Bassett Hounds. Earlier in his life, Mr. Davis built and flew his own airplane.
Mr. Davis is survived by his children James F. Davis of Springfield, VT, Shirley Wheeler, and husband Ralph, of Surry and Marion Blood of Keene; 6 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His three sisters Edith Ladd, Florence Dragon and Lillian Barcom died earlier. His wife Gladys Davis died in 2003.
Services for Mr. Davis will be held on Monday, March 2nd, 2015, 2:00 PM at Beth-El Bible Church, 13 Village Road, Surry, NH 03431. Burial will be held in the spring at the Surry Village Cemetery. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mr. George E. Davis’ name to Beth-El Bible Church, 13 Village Road, Surry, NH 03431.
