

He was born on September 11, 1925, in Glen Cove, NY, to Frederick and Sarah Amelia (Bouton) Fellendorf. George grew up in and attended Sea Cliff, Long Island Schools.
He married Hazel Maisey of Scranton PA on November 30, 1946, in a ceremony in Schenectady, NY.
He joined the US Navy during WW II, was sent to study engineering at Union College in Schenectady, NY, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He graduated from Union in 1947 with a BS in Engineering, and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1949 with a Bachelors and Masters in Management Engineering. He was president of an Easton PA engineering company in 1962 when he was inspired by his young deaf daughter, Linda, to shift careers.
He and his family moved to Washington, DC after he was selected to serve as Executive Director of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf. While working there from 1962 until 1978, he received a Doctor of Education from Teacher’s College-Columbia University in NY in 1974. He served as Executive Director of the HEAR Foundation of Arlington, VA from 1978 to 1980, and consulted in special education and services for the deaf for non-profit, governmental, and international organizations from 1980-2007 including service on the Veteran’s Advisory Committee on Education in 2004-2005.
George was often tapped for service as a board member and leader for nonprofit organizations. He was chair of NH Christian Coalition (1993-1996) and most recently served as board member of the Pregnancy Resource Center of the Monadnock Region.
George was a skilled public speaker, writer and editor, and was well known locally in the Keene region for serving as talk show host on WKBK in Keene, NH from 1996-2001 and for his frequent published letters to the editor in the Keene Sentinel. He was a bold, unwavering and vocal conservative voice in Keene.
From 2000-2002 George served as Acting Principal of Trinity Christian School, Keene, NH. Upon his retirement, the school honored him and his wife by establishing the George and Hazel Fellendorf Award, given annually to a graduate who has excelled in contributing to the Christian ideals that the school promotes.
George combined his education background and missionary zeal by serving as educational consultant in 2004 to help set up a school for radio missionary’s children in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2005 he served as a short term missionary with Concordia English Center in Macau, China.
In March 2013 George was honored by the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for his professional contributions as executive director and editor with the naming of the George W. Fellendorf Editorial Suite in their headquarters, the Volta Bureau, Washington, DC.
George and his wife of 66 years, Hazel, are longtime members of the Missouri Synod Lutheran church with active memberships at Calvary Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD and then at Trinity Lutheran Church in Keene, NH.
He is survived by wife Hazel Fellendorf of Keene; three daughters: Carol Barbierri and her husband Richard of Shaftsbury, VT, Linda Mousavi and her husband Hossein of Mesa, AZ, and Joyce Jackson and her husband Craig of Seattle, WA; a brother Frederick Fellendorf of Lisle, IL; six grandchildren: Ramin, Kamran, Cara, Cody, Collin and Ashley, and two great grandchildren: Brandon and Miranda.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Sarah (Bouton) Fellendorf, a sister Phyllis Carty and her husband
Alwyn, and sister-in-law Helen Fellendorf.
George will be remembered for his deep love of his wife Hazel and extended family, his passion to share the Good News of Christ, and his extraordinary efforts to help and improve the lives of many others, especially those with special needs. He was very proud of his book published in 2007, available at Amazon.com, My Problems, God’s Solutions, which shared his life story and how God helped him solve his problems. He hoped to inspire others to seek God’s help in solving their problems.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there are no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave, Keene, NH. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George W. Fellendorf’s name to Trinity Christian School, 100 Maple Ave, Keene, NH 03431.
