Gladys K. White

She was born in Keene, NH on September 4, 1919, daughter of Edgar Reynolds and Grace Coburn Reynolds. She graduated from Keene High School and attended nursing school.

She and her husband of 68 years, John White, owned White Brothers Market and Soda Fountain on Winchester Street in Keene, now the Pub Restaurant. She also worked at MPB for 9 years and at The Woodshed Clothiers.

Knitting was her passion. She made many beautiful sweaters, baby blankets and caps, scarfs for all of her family. Her knitting was a work of art and anyone who received it knew it was a gift from the heart.

She and her husband enjoyed many trips to Florida to visit family and they also traveled to Ireland and other countries. Most of all she liked spending time with family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy. She always had a dog and they were also a great source of joy.

Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline (White) Metivier and her husband Dr. Donald Metivier, of Keene; a son, John E. White and his wife, Nancie of Key Biscayne, Florida; a sister, Beatrice Reynolds Robinson of Douglas, Massachusetts; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Metivier of Durham, Kelli White Menendez and her husband, Aner, of Miami, Florida; Todd Metivier and his wife Raina of Nashua, NH, and Landry and Wilder White of Key Biscayne, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Leah Metivier, and Max and Francesca Menendez; and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers Willis and Albert Reynolds and sisters Adeline Helm, Evelyn Wood, Barbara Knowlton died earlier. Also important in her life were her caregivers: Phyllis Tenney and Caroline Sturgis. She loved them and they were angels to her.

A memorial service will be held in June. There are no visiting hours.

The Foley Funeral Home of Keene is assisting the family with the arrangements.
