
He was born in White Plains, NY on August 9, 1929, the son of Fenn B. and Helen (Gould) Newell.
Harry attended Pennington Elementary School, Nichols Jr. High, A.B.Davis High School, Mt Vernon, NY and New York State University at Cobleskill, NY.
Harry served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1959 and saw service in Korea. His rating at discharge was BM3 aboard the USS General AE Anderson APIII.
On February 12, 1965, he married Kathleen, at a friend’s home, in East Swanzey, NH, during a midnight ceremony.
Harry worked for Markem for 31 years, retiring in 1987. Upon retirement, he worked for the town of Westmoreland Highway Department. He also kept active more recently, driving for Delano’s Bus Service, and working at Polyonics.
Harry loved the outdoors and you could often find him working in the yard. Above all things, he cherished his time spent with family.
He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Kathleen Newell of Westmoreland; his children, Larry Newell and his wife Carlene of Keene, David Newell and his wife Lorraine of Keene, Vicki-Ann Mason and her husband David of Spofford, James Newell and his wife Sandy of Sullivan, Jennifer Poliquin and her husband Kenneth of East Swanzey, Michael Newell and his wife Susan of Swanzey; eight grandchildren: Nicholas Grossi, Olivia Poliquin, Kristopher Newell, Paige Newell, Katie Newell, Melanie Lucius, Alyce Newell, Christine Wilkes; three great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by a daughter, Laurie Newell and a grandson, Kevan Newell.
Per the family’s request, there will be no public calling hours. Services for family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made, in Mr. Harry Newell's name, to the charity of one's choice.
