

Helen Marie McCarthy, 88, a resident of Keene, New Hampshire, died peacefully at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital and Medical Center in Methuen, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 18, 2011, following a long illness.
She was born September 17, 1922, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of William and Mary (O’Grady) Murphy. She was a 1940 Graduate of Lawrence High School. She was married to Edward L McCarthy.
Helen loved spending time with her family and cooking for them: she was a wonderful cook and baker. She also enjoyed sewing and was very gifted in her ability to alter clothing. She had a deep love of children and was admired by many for her nurturing spirit.
She is survived by two sons: Joseph McCarthy of Glendale, California and Christopher McCarthy and his wife Sandra of Andover, MA., one grandson: Andrew McCarthy of Andover, MA., a sister: Anne Ryan of Queensbury, NY., and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, her son: Edward McCarthy, Jr., her two brothers: William Murphy, Jr. and John Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1:00pm at St. Bernard Church in Keene, NH. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Burial will be Private. The Foley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
