Hung Wah Jue

Hung Wah Jue, born January 4, 1915, died peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in his home in Keene, NH where he has resided since December 2008. Hung came to the United States in 1937 from China, Kwangtung province, Sun Wui County, Gu Cheng Village. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Stella (Goon) Jue of Boston, MA, in 2008.

An independent and adventurous person, Hung initially arrived in California with his father, but after a few days traveled alone by train to New York City to live with his uncle. As someone who had come to a new country with no knowledge of the culture or language, he made a remarkable adjustment over the years. During World War II he joined the U.S. Army, and after serving honorably, Hung decided to live in Boston where he met Stella and where they married. He and Stella later moved the family to Natick, MA and became long-time residents there. Hung was known affectionately as “Chuck” by the many people and friends who came to know him. He was engaging and charmed people with his smile. Hung worked long and hard in order to provide for his family. His goals were modest, and he strode toward them daily, step by step, as if he were ascending his own private mountain. He was especially proud of the home he bought in Natick and often spent his days off and vacations working on the house. Upon his retirement he loved just being around his home.

Hung is survived by 5 children, Richard of Santa Cruz, CA, Kenneth and his wife Carol of Keene, NH, Philip of Burbank, CA, Madeline Ling and her husband Roger of Carlisle, MA, and Eric and his wife Genie Wong of San Francisco, CA; 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. He will be interred with his beloved wife, Stella, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston, MA. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Hospice Services, Home Healthcare Hospice and Community Services, 312 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH 03431 or to a charity of your choice.
