

Jay was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 21, 1934, the son of Percy L. Milliken and Grace P. (Haywood) Pierni. Mr. Milliken proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Rooks. On September 23, 1955 he married the love of his life Virginia M. Burke. For more than thirty years Jay served on the Cambridge Fire Department.
Jay loved to be with his family and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife spent summers in the White Mountains after they retired and he especially liked camping in the outdoors. He was very proud of his service to both the Fire Department and to the US Military. On Memorial Day he would march in not one but several different parades in various towns in Vermont.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia Milliken of West Townshend, Vermont, four sons: Jay W. Milliken, Jr and his wife Susan of Melrose, MA, Robert P Milliken and his wife Kimberly of Keene, NH, Paul L. Milliken of Salem, MA and Steven Milliken and his wife Michele of Templeton, MA, nine grandchildren: Danielle, David, Katelyn, Matthew, Molly, Olivia, Steven,Tyler Milliken and Michael Murphy, a sister: Marsha Lavallee of Medford, Ma , a brother: George Pierni of Brockton,Ma.
Family and friends are invited to call on the family from 2 to 4pm on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street Keene, NH. Funeral services will be held in the Spring and will be announced at a later date.
