

He was born in Keene, NH on February 14, 1926, the son of Mary (Gallagher) and John J. Zimmerman, Sr. He grew up in Keene, attending local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Keene High School where he was class president, valedictorian and the first recipient of the prestigious Sharby trophy.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth College (AB) in 1948, and a graduate of Boston University Law School (LLB) in 1951.
He was a Navy veteran serving from July 1, 1944 to July 3, 1946 and served onboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte.
Jack was first employed in the Upton Law firm in Concord NH from 1951-1957 and served as Assistant Attorney General from 1957-1960. He joined the law firm of Faulkner, Plaut, Hanna, and Zimmerman from 1960-1993 and served as Cheshire County Attorney from 1961-1964. He was a member of the NH Bar Association.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 819 of St. Bernard Church for 58 years where he served as the conferring officer from 1965 to the present.
He served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Savings Bank of Walpole.
He is survived by three children, Diane M. Farina and her husband, Jonathan, of Surry, NH, Carol J. Teitel of Bedford, NH, Brian J. Zimmerman and his wife, Melinda, of Big Oak Valley, CA; four grandchildren, Christopher J. Farina and his wife, Christine, of Sunnyvale, CA, Matthew W. Farina of Newton, MA, Abigail Cotter and her husband, Michael, of El Mirage, AZ, Julia Fletcher of Concord, NH; a great-granddaughter, Elizabetta Cotter of El Mirage, AZ; a brother, Joseph F. Zimmerman and his wife, Peggy, of Delmar, NY; and his niece, Deirdre Taylor and her husband, Dahl of Glenmont NY and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Betty Ann (Clodgo) Zimmerman in 2005, and a son, Steven J. Zimmerman in 2001.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:00AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers for those who wish, that donations be made in Mr. Zimmerman’s memory to the St. Bernard Church Restoration Fund, c/o Parish of the Holy Spirit, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431.
