Joseph A. Maliska, Jr., 53, a life-long resident of Keene, NH, passed away at the Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, following a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 25, 1963, in Keene, NH the son of Joseph A. and Joyce A. (Durant) Maliska, Sr. He was a 1982 graduate of Keene High School. Joe began working with his dad and his brothers in the family drywall business when he was a teenager. He was well known and respected in his field. He enjoyed his work and he loved working with his partner and brother Bill.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing. Whether it was in a lake or pond, or ice fishing in the winter: there was a special connection for him to be out in nature. He was a big Red Sox fan, and he rarely missed a game. Humor was something that he brought to every person that he met: although he knew when to be serious, he loved to make people smile. He was a quiet man and he enjoyed the simple things in life. Above all he cherished family. His greatest joy in life were his children and he was devoted to them: he taught them the values of friendship, compassion, hard-work and above all loving with your whole heart.
He is survived by two daughters: Mariah Maliska of St. Petersburg, FL and Tori Maliska of Clearwater, FL, his son: Cameron Maliska of Keene, NH, two sisters: Darlene Smith and her husband Bart of Swanzey, NH and Phyllis Maliska of Keene, NH, two brothers: Anthony Maliska and William Maliska, both of Keene, NH, his sister-in-law: Pamela Maliska of Keene and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is also survived by his friend and mother of his children: Kelly Raynes. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother: Todd Maliska.
A Celebration of Joey’s life will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016, from 1 to 6pm at the Elks Camp, East Surry Road, Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsbury Cancer Center, 580 Court Street, Keene, NH. 03431.
