Katherine J. McGuire

30 mayo , 196416 julio , 2020

Katherine J. McGuire, 56 of Keene, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2020 in the comfort of her home.

She was born in Bourne, MA on May 30, 1964. She was the daughter of the late Judith (Treadwell) and Richard Junge. She moved a lot growing up due to her father’s service in the Air Force and got to experience childhood in many places in the US; she even lived as far as Japan. Kathy’s family settled in Dover, DE just in time for high school where she graduated from Dover High School.

Kathy attended Delaware Technical Community College where she received her Associates in Nursing. She further pursued her Bachelors in Nursing from Southern New Hampshire University. Recently, she had been studying to obtain her Masters in Nursing.

A resident of Keene for the past 15 years, Kathy had been employed by Cheshire Medical and Keene Center Genesis. She had a passion for nursing and caring for others.

Kathy found pleasure in camping at her camp and spending the summers visiting the shores of Cape Cod. There was nothing that Kathy enjoyed more than spoiling her three grandbabies.

Kathy will be dearly missed by her children: Carlina Nickerson and her husband Eddie of Hartly, DE, Mathew McGuire and his wife Melissa of Frederica, DE, and Alex Raffaele of Keene, NH; grandchildren: Kyleigh, Kamryn, and Camdyn; brothers: Michael Junge and his wife Sandi of Dunkirk, MD and Gary Junge and his wife Cindy of Magnolia, DE; cousins: Christie Yardley and Jeff Gaouette who were more like siblings; as well as many additional cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A private service will be available for streaming on the Fletcher Funeral Home Facebook page on Wednesday, July 22 at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to call that evening from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. Due to the current COVID-19 precautions, those in attendance are requested to please wear a facemask and to maintain the six-foot physical distancing requirements. In addition, due to the limitation of the number of people allowed in the funeral home during this time, we are asking that after offering your condolences to the family, you exit the funeral home via the side door. There will be staff to assist you with this egress.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be made in Katherine J. McGuire’s name to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 (www.Heart.org).

Oh, Kathy! I just can not believe we are at this place.... I can still remember when you got your driver's license!! And when you said we would always be sisters, I didn't know that was the last time we would see each other.....

I am so glad you were able to go live in NH - guess it was my New England heritage, but I loved it so much when we were able to visit Gram in Keene - I still have such fond memories of being at her house and visiting the sugar shacks and the signs of "frost heaves" on the way to see Uncle Fred on Mt Washington. Such a wonderful place!!

And, of course, I have to commend you you for going into LTC nursing. As a Consultant Pharmacist, we are kindred spirits- working in geriatrics takes a whole special breed. I know nurses do so very much - and advanced degrees may impress but I know that even the LPN does more than most people can even imagine. Thank you Kathy, for caring about our elderly.

And I know you loved FAMILY - especially, your children and your grandchildren.
You were an exemplary parent and daughter and grandmother- and even just one of those roles would be difficult! You were always there for those who needed you ♡

But now you are with Dad and Mom and Gram..... I wish you all heaven's joy and eternal peace, endless hugs and kisses from Dad, and scrumptious baked goodies from Gram - mmmm - creampuffs!! And, maybe Mom will make some yummy Japanese gyoza and boneless chicken!!!..... Until we can all be together again - I love you. ♡♡

As Kathy’s big brother, I will tell you she fulfilled her requirements as a little sister. She definitely was a pain! But my how she grew up. She progressed through life, advanced in her career and provided for her children. I know she was proud of all her kids. Nursing provided Kathy not only a career but something she was proud to pursue. I know my dad would have been so proud of her career progression especially when she received her BS. He is probably telling her that right now.

We kept talking about getting together for several years. There were always excuses....distance, timing, etc. I will just be another voice that will repeat the statement.....“Don’t let it wait, get together before it is too late.“

Dear children and sister of Kathy,
Kathy was a beloved member of the Wright Estate Family. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
I recently met Kathy while she was practicing her nursing skills at Cheshire Medical Center. She was beaming and it was evident that she had truly found her calling.
May these memories comfort you in your loss.
God Bless!

You were my Cuz but more like a sister. I was so proud of you as I watched you go through your life making friends , loving your jobs and doing things you loved. You were so proud of the success your children received throughout there lives. I was so proud as you continued your education and your graduations with high honors. We had so much fun laughing together, and crying together. We would say gram brought us together. I will always have a hole in my heart but will try to fill with memories. Give my love to all those above and I will see you again. Love Cuz

Kathy was a kind, talented and dedicated nurse who helped countless people in her lifetime. She had an infectious laugh, was calm under pressure and I found her to be a natural leader. I worked with her for in the Gastroenterology clinic at Cheshire Medical Center and I was lucky to have spent this time learning from her and trying to replicate her expertise and quick wit. She was one of a kind and it's tragic that she was taken from us this soon. I offer my deepest condolences to her family.
