

He was born in Kittery, Maine, November 21, 1920, the son of Everett and Mary Ann (Moore) Leathers. He grew up in Peterborough, NH and was a graduate of Peterborough High School.
He was a Navy veteran serving during World War II, participating in the Battle of Normandy. He served on the USS Monadnock and USS Tazewell.
He resided in Manchester, NH where Mr. Leathers worked for over 25 years as an optical technician with MIT Lincoln Labs.
Mr. Leathers enjoyed photography, astronomy, reading, playing cards, canoeing and camping. He built his own sailboat, telescope and camera. At 70 years he acquired a computer and taught himself how to navigate the internet, learned Photo Shop and set up his own email.
Mr. Leathers was a consummate gentlemen.
He is survived by four stepchildren; Patrick Ryan and Shirley Ross, both of Marlborough, NH, Chester Venable of Keene, NH, Sarah Cline of Sun City Center, FL; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 18 years, Mae A. (Chant) Leathers in 2001, a brother, Carroll Leathers and a sister Rhoda Cochran.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Family and friends are welcome. Burial with military honors in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Marlborough, will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Leathers’ memory to a charity or organization of your choice.
