Kenneth was born in Guilford, VT on January 8, 1921 to Cyrus and Eva Merrifield.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Alice Merrifield; his 2nd wife Ester Merrifield; his step-daughters, Josephine Leslie of Keene, NH, Virginia Champney of Winchester, NH, Julie Jantti of Winchester, NH; and his son Kenneth L. Merrifield, Jr. of Winchester, NH.
Kenneth is survived by his sister Jeanine Saunders of Fitchburg, Mass.
He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He loved to hunt and watch old westerns and take rides along the back roads of NH.
Kenneth was a veteran of WW II and served in the US Army PFC Company E 361st Infantry Regiment. His assignments included Rome Arno, North Apennines’ and PO Valley and was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a long time member of the Local VFW Winchester NH
There will be a private graveside service at a later date.
