Born in Manila, Philippines, on September 4, 1959, Luke was the son of Rizalina Canlas Sundiang, a dedicated educator, and Nicolas Sundiang, who served as an executive for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He shared a close bond with his younger brother Jay, who preceded him in death earlier this year.
Luke’s educational journey took him through De La Salle University for elementary and high school before pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. His passion for technology led him to excel in various roles, from analyst and programmer to project manager, with notable stints at IBM, City Trust Bank, Producers Bank of the Philippines, and Prudential Financial.
Throughout his life, Luke’s adventurous spirit took him across the globe, with work assignments in Bahrain, Qatar, and the United States. He cherished his travels with his beloved wife Vicky, exploring destinations like Rome, the Uris Alps, and the Tower of London, creating cherished memories captured in photo albums filled with sandstorms, pilgrimages, and breathtaking sights. Luke's zest for life extended to his love of food, always on a quest to savor the finest flavors wherever his travels took him.
Luke’s generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, whether through thoughtful gestures to family and friends or acts of kindness to those in need. His devotion to Vicky of 37 years was evident in the love letters he penned and the special gifts he bestowed upon her, while his pride in their daughter Kathryn and son-in-law Alan’s achievements, particularly their campground, the Brattleboro North KOA in Vermont, was well known, and the love for his granddaughter, Rosalina, knew no bounds.
Luke’s legacy of love, generosity, and adventure will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, dearest Luke; you are deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Luke was predeceased by his parents Nicolas Sundiang and Rizalina Canlas Sundiang as well as his younger brother Jay Sundiang.
