Nancy Sauer Cahill

She was born on January 14, 1952, in San Jose California, to Paul R. and Mary A. (Lemmons) Sauer, Sr. She moved to Yuba City, CA as a child, when her father opened an appliance store. In her youth, she worked in her dad’s appliance store.

She went to school in Yuba City where she developed her musical ability inherited from her mom. She was in the band and was an accomplished at the flute and piano. She graduated from Yuba City High School in 1970. She attended San Francisco State University majoring in music. In 2008 she attained her long term goal of a Bachelor of Science Degree from Capella University.

She married James W. Cahill, Jr., in a ceremony on Shipwreck beach in Kauai, Hawaii, on November 14, 2006.

She worked in the insurance industry starting in 1973 at the Cal-Farm Insurance Company in Sacramento, Ca. She then worked for various companies for over 40 years before retiring in 2013. Most recently she was a Project Manager for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., in their Keene office.

She was member of the CPCU Society and attained the title of a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter in 1981. She was active in the society and was president of the Sacramento, Ca. Chapter and was a two term chairman of the National Commercial Underwriting Section.

Nancy enjoyed music of all types, reading, hiking and fishing, and was looking forward to warmer weather to be able to get out and enjoy it.

She is survived by her husband, of 8 years: Jim Cahill of Walpole NH, her brothers: Paul Sauer, II and his significant other Kelly Rees , and David Sauer and his wife Corina of Salt Lake,UT; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral services. Burial will take place at a later date.
