He was born in Northboro, MA, on June 7, 1940, to Henry Ernest and Gladys Mary (Prentiss) Fleming. He grew up and went to schools in MA. After High School he enlisted into the United States Army, where he received an Honorable Discharge. He went to work for himself, opening a roofing business. Later he made the switch to become a licensed plumber. A career he worked at for many years up until his retirement. After his retirement he continued to work for HCS as a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.
He was a member of the American Legion Gordon Bissell Post #4. He was a long time metal detecting enthusiast, often as a part of Streeter’s Treasure Hunting. He was a real outdoors type, enjoying hunting and fishing, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling. He also enjoyed time spent on his Harley or out looking for his next Willy's Jeep.
He is survived by his two sons: Robert L. Fleming of Keene and Richard L Fleming, Jr. and his significant other (?) Tanya Ferland of Sullivan; six grandchildren: Gage Fleming and Gavin Fleming, both of Springfield, NH, Crystal Marrotte of W. Swanzey, Justin Fleming of Keene, Brianna Fleming of Sullivan and Kiah Buckley of Keene; two great grandchildren: Haley and Cameron; 8 siblings: Ernie, “Foxy”, Charlie, Carlton, Athena, Ellie, Shirley and Pam.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home. A graveside Celebration of Life will follow, at the Monadnock View Cemetery.
