

He was born in Keene, NH on March 24, 1924, one of eight children of Lucien and Alice (Helie) Parenteau. He was a 1942 graduate of Keene High School.
Mr. Parenteau was an Army Corporal serving in World War II, and was stationed in France.
He worked for over ten years with Timken Corporation of Keene.
He was a member of the Keene VFW Post #799 and the Gordon Bissell American Legion Keene Post #4; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 927. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene.
He was an accomplished pianist. His passion was being part of the group known as the “Singers”, entertaining at all the area nursing homes, and at the Keene Senior Center where he was a member for 26 years. The keys on the pianos at the VFW, the Legion and the Elks will be silent, but his memory will live on.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews including a nephew, Don Desmarais of Westminister, MA. He was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters, Camille Parenteau who died while serving his country during World War II, Gerald Parenteau, Yvette Desmarais, Florence Lynch, Colombe Dion, Estelle Davis and Arlene Brochu.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 10:00AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
