My Dearest Son,

It's now been over a month since you left us.  Some days it seems like just yesterday when I last spoke to you.  Other days it seems like its been forever.  No matter which way I feel  it's always too long.

I was thinking about you the other day and found it difficult to think of you as a 47 year old man.  Instead sometimes think of you as the very blonde 6 year old learning to ride his new red bicycle that his grandparents had bought for him.  That little boy and the man he became will always be in my heart.

I wanted to let you know that mom and I have brought you home to South Carolina.  I know that would please you.

I can imagine that your two grandmothers are taking care of you until mom and I can be with you again.

My dear nephew and godson, 
I received a card today from a friend who was often at Susan's pool when I used to take you and Lisa there for a swim. The card said, “So sorry to hear the news about Steven. I only knew him as a cute little boy in a bathing suit, but I'm sure he grew up to be a fine man.” That you did, Steven. That you did. I have been so proud of you, I thought my heart would burst. The last time we were together, we shared a meal with your mom and dad at your condo. It was a happy time filled with laughter and the sharing of stories. That is the way that I will remember you. When I saw you at Stacey and Jamey's wedding in Ohio, you said to me that I was more that just an aunt, I was your friend. You had a way of making others feel special. You were an amazing person, Steven, as was so evident at the beautiful celebration of your life that your mom and dad planned. I have been blessed to have you in my life, and I have no doubt we will meet again. Until then, may God “lift you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand.” I will love you forever – and then some.

Happy Birthday Son. July 29, 1967 is when I first met you and it was instant love. You were a happy, bubbly nearly 10 lb. baby and you filled my heart with joy. Through the years I have watched you grow into a wonderful adult. You stumbled and fell a few times but you were always able to get back up. Life here on earth will never be the same without you but where you are now there is no pain and suffering which makes me feel a little better. We will meet again son..I love you, Mom aka Ethel..

I remember a lot of good times with you....when we were young and brave and just starting out.  We thought we knew everything back then.  Funny how life teaches us something new every day if we are lucky.  I wish these were not my last words to you but let me tell you that I always thought you were kindest soul, that I was glad you were my cousin and that I wish we had stayed in touch over the years.  I have many happy memories of you while growing up and I hope to be greeted by you again one day when it is my turn.  I miss you more than I can express and will never again pass up the opportunity to tell someone I love them.  I love you Steven Robert Jr.  and I will see you again one day.

Foosh I don't even know where to start. I regret not staying in touch more over these last several years. One thing I know is that we had a bond that went beyond mere words. You are and always will be my brother. You were a good soul. Anyone who ever met you is a better person for having done so. You brought light into so many peoples lives. Our lives are now all a little bit dimmer because that light is gone. Gone but never forgotten. You were one of the bravest people I ever met. Everything you endured in your lifetime and always with a an attitude that was unbelievable. You hold a special place in my heart. God has you now and Heaven is a better place for it. I Love You!!

May our Lord hold you gently in His arms now, Steven. We remember our wonderful times with you when we were stationed in Spain. We wish you Everlasting Peace and Love. I am still in shock that you are gone. You were such an amazing man and I feel so blessed to have known you. I loved how important your family and friends were to you. I loved how a simple conversation about food with you could bring a smile to both of our faces. I wish I had had the opportunity to try your famous red sauce you often spoke about. Hearing you talk about how your mother's bbq and beef stews were the best you've ever had. Heck I even liked hearing you tell me how much you dislike some of the foods I loved like cabbage. 
I'm going to miss you so much.  I wish we had talked as frequently in the last few months as we have over the past few years. You were my best friend and I could tell you everything, good and bad w/o you judging me. I'm pretty sure you felt the same and I'm glad we were there for each other for the good as well as the bad. 
I know your biggest fear was not being there to watch V grow up. Athough I'm sure you will be watching out for her from above it still breaks my heart to know you can't be here for her. No child or parent should have to endure such a loss. 
I could go on and on but I won't.  Instead I will say my thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. I look forward to the day when I will talk to you again. Until then rest in peace my friend and know that you will forever be missed and loved by so many.

I can remember so well our kids playing little league.  Also remember them skipping summer fun while we were at work.  I know Steve will be missed terribly but I hope you can remember all the Happy Times.  All of you will be in my prayers. With Deepest Sympathy Jane McKinley League City, TX

My Nephew...I am at a loss as to what to say...I can hear you laugh now and say "What!? you Auntie Carol at a loss for words?" and we would both laugh because this didn't happen often...too young & entirely to soon to leave us. How you were loved and are loved. How we admired you so as you bravely endured all that you did with your surgeries. Never giving up. How we will live without you in this world in our lives is a big question mark. I remember when you were 3 or possibly 4 and you were playing outside your home and suddenly you called for all of us to come outside and so we did...your Mom & Dad & myself and Michael & Kathryn...and there you were watching a flower blooming...you so wonderfully excited...we so impressed at your awareness and joy. What a gift you have always been to your parents, Michael & Kathryn, Auntie Donna, myself...well everybody you were related to and knew you throughout your life. Am so sorry I didn't stay in touch more over the past three years. My loss. Rest in Peace wonderful nephew...Rest in Peace. PS...so much for being at a loss for words. And I know we would laugh at this too.
