Teresa Lucía Gorin, 78, passed away on Monday, September 26th at her home in Keene, NH. Her son and caretaker of many years, Pablo, was at her side. Teresa (or “Toti,” as she was affectionately nicknamed by her family and friends) lost her battle to non-alcoholic cirrhosis after five years of continued suffering. Teresa was born and raised in Rosario, Argentina, and moved to South Florida in the mid 90’s with her two kids to be near her husband Abe, who for many years lived and worked in the United States to provide for his wife and sons.
Teresa was a loving mother to her two sons Pablo and Gustavo, and dedicated her life to provide for their welfare, success, and well-being. She was a devoted wife to her husband Abraham whom she married in 1974 in Argentina. Teresa was a model in her teens and worked as a hairdresser and seamstress in her native Rosario, owning her own salon for a few years. She was a fabulous cook and was always interested in learning about recipes and mastering her cooking. She was delighted to hear when her son Pablo always proclaimed that her latest dish was “the best he ever had,” whatever it was. Teresa maintained a passion for knitting, and throughout the years created a wealth of items including beautiful sweaters for her dogs, mastering the interchange of colors, and never repeating a pattern. In her last years, Teresa also enjoyed coloring books, and left a substantial number of drawings displaying an exquisite palette of colors. She loved dogs and had a profound sensitivity for the well-being of all animals. She was very excited to have seen black bears throughout the window at her home in Keene.
Mom enjoyed watching a little tv and aside from one or two Spanish soap operas that she was crazy for, she loved the reality tv show Deadliest Catch and specially the Showtime series Ray Donovan. Teresa was also a huge fan of soccer superstar and compatriot Leo Messi and followed news of his games and whereabouts periodically. She would have been so happy to know that he finally won the Worldcup for Argentina in Qatar shortly after her passing.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winchester, New Hampshire, with Father Hugues Beaugrand presiding over the Latin Rite ceremony. Teresa was interred at Woodland Northeast Cemetery in Keene, not very far from the apartment that she shared with her son Pablo.
Teresa was a sweet, kind, compassionate, and affectionate woman, loved instantly by anyone who had a chance to meet her. She will be tremendously missed.
