

He was welcomed into the world in Keene, NH on March 20, 1965, by his parents, Judith (Kezar) and William K. Sargent, Sr. Bill grew up in Keene and during the summer months he enjoyed time spent on the family farm with his grandparents in Springfield, NH.
Bill was a 1984 graduate of Keene High School. He attended Keene State College receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology and computer science.
Bill served his community as a police officer with the City of Keene Police Department for over 21 years of service, retiring on June 27, 2014. He continued to support the police department following his retirement by working in the dispatcher center at the KPD.
A talented musician, Bill, in his youth was a member of the NH Garrison Marching Band playing the baritone horn; and a member of the Westmoreland, NH Town Band, who along with his two children Ben and Liz, all played the saxophone for many performances together.
His talents with his hands and mind also lent themselves to his building of model ships and trains; "tinkering" and fixing his tractors; doing yard work and tending to his floral and vegetable gardens, canning the bountiful produce he grew. He loved being in the kitchen, demonstrating his talents for cooking wonderful creations for his family.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sara A. (Maki) Sargent of Gilsum; his two children, Ben Sargent and Liz Sargent, both of Gilsum; and a brother, Alvah Sargent and his wife Michelle of Bolton, MA.
A celebration of life and visitation for Bill will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene.
