Carmen Cantu passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17th at the age of 92. She was born February 11, 1932 in General Bravo, Nuevo León, Mexico. She married Juan Cantu and they immigrated to the United States in 1952. Together they raised four children in the panhandle of Texas.
Carmen was a stay at home mom who was dedicated to her family. She was an excellent cook who made homemade meals every day. She was also an avid gardener who grew beautiful and unusual flowers, as well as many fruits and vegetables. She kept her house immaculate at all times.
In addition to loving her family, Carmen was very attentive to her many dogs through the years. Most of them were labs who were well fed and never skipped a treat. Her dogs made her happy and they lived very good lives.
Cooking for her family and grandchildren was a passion of hers. Several of her grandchildren went to Texas Tech and, much to her delight, they would visit her on Sundays for a good, home cooked meal.
After 50 years in West Texas, Carmen and Juan moved to North Fort Worth to be closer to their children, grandchildren and even a great grandson. They were able to spend their last several years enjoying time with their family.
Carmen was deeply religious and is no doubt rejoicing in Heaven.
Survivors include 4 children: Jesse Cantu of Austin, TX, John (Bea) Cantu of Keller, TX, Mary (Bill) Mayrath of Coppell, TX, Roland (Nikki) Cantu of Hampstead, NC; 6 grandchildren: Leslie Lee, William (Kessley) Mayrath, Austin (Mary) Mayrath, Lucy Gardner, Kendall Cantu, and Beckett Cantu; 1 great grandson: Everett Lee.
