Jill was born on November 23, 1967, at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska to Janice and James Courtney. She graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1986 and soon after joined the United States Air Force as a Medical Services Technician.
While serving at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan, Jill met Matthew, who would become her husband of 35 years. She served 10 years in the Air Force before choosing to focus on raising their three daughters and supporting Matthew throughout his military career.
After Matthew’s retirement, the family settled in Rhome, where Jill stayed active in her daughters’ school, sports, and FFA activities. She volunteered with organizations including Riding Unlimited and the Decatur Senior Center.
Jill enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, fishing, and spending time at the beach during visits to Corpus Christi. Above all, she loved spending time with her five grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Janice Shannon; her biological father, James Courtney; and her grandmother, Vera Gardner.
Jill is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Matthew; daughters Katie (Brandon) Ceremelli, Sarah (Michael) Lamon, and Amy Bohlen; grandchildren Raegan, Joseph, Olivia, Harper, and Ellery; Daddy, Ron Shannon; brothers Pat (Chris) Gardner and Jimmy (Denise) Courtney; sister, Jamie Courtney; and numerous stepbrothers, stepsisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
