

Monte Clyde Raines, passed away on Sunday July 2, 2023 at the age of 84. Monte was born Dec 9, 1938 in Oklahoma City as the son of Wynona Snook and Clyde Raines. At an early age, Monte and family migrated to the Dallas, Tx. area where he lived in his early years. Monte served his country as a Marine at the early age of 18 yrs and forever thought of himself as a 25 year old handsome Marine!
Upon discharge, he started working in the produce business and eventually moved to Memphis, Tennessee and became a union organizer for the food workers division of the UFWC ( United Food Workers Commission) Union. He traveled and organized extensively in the southeast. He retired in 1980 and relocated to Jackson, Mississippi where he opened a ceiling fan shop called Fancy Fans. Before he retired he was a car salesman for Chevrolet. He loved fishing, and an avid reader of James Patterson books. He loved watching westerns and NASCAR every weekend. He was an animal lover, and always preferred dogs over cats but in his last days he treasured two cats who lived with him Sophie who he renamed “dirty face “ and Brisket “ Fluffy”. He is survived by his only child daughter , Ronda René Little ( husband David) Grandson Casey Allen Moore, ( Wife Kassie) Granddaughter Briana Nicole Moore, and great granddaughters Nina Moore. Whitney , Blayne and Carson and Kamo Moore. He is preceded by his siblings Ruth Helaine Taylor, John D. McKeel and Cecil Manual Vaughn. Surviving siblings are Nancy Ward, Jimmy Vaughn (Heidie), Scarlet Goodwin, Cece Serignet and Todd McKeel. He was also considered a brother to Betty, Bula, Leroy, Tommy and as a son to Eddie Vaughn.
