Norman Melville Lewis Jr. ascended to heaven to continue his cherished pursuit of genealogy research on June 17th, 2024
He was born September 3rd, 1963 in Wichita Falls, TX where he spent most of his childhood and young adulthood.
Norm had an insatiable curiosity about everything, dedicating more hours to study than to sleep.
He spent countless hours, days, and years researching family history, and his love for math was evident in his frequent use of Excel to meticulously calculate household budgets, travel expenses, and so on. He worked as an economist for more than 20 years. Norm eagerly studied economics even after graduating from college. He often said that economics is a study of both mathematics and human behavior. In addition to his MBA from Midwestern State University in 1993, Norm recently earned a graduate certificate in Risk Management from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2019.
Norm was a lovely, supportive, and patient husband as well as nurturing, wise, and fun-loving dad in our family. He was a go-to person for many of our family members and friends especially for any computer related problems. He was a seasoned and compassionate educator not only for his students but also for anyone around him. Norm was sometimes called “Roadblocker”, at work due to his rule-abiding nature; he kept looking for solutions even if that means not being punctual. He was a dedicated dad to his daughter’s theater groups. He volunteered many hours designing, collaborating, and building theater sets.
He was the best listener when someone needed to talk. He was the best cuddler in our family who created warm, comforting and safe moments when needed. Words cannot describe how wonderful of a human being he was. He will be greatly missed forever.
He is survived by his wife, Chinatsu, his daughter Emma, his brother, Keith, his sister-in-law, Donna, his nieces, Lauren, Morgan, and Hannah.
Norm was preceded in death by father Norman Melville Lewis Sr., and mother Barbara Jane Lewis
