

Raymond Mitchell Caughey, known affectionately as Mitch, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, after a brief illness. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Born on June 19, 1945, in Big Spring, Texas, to Laurel Bryant and Elsie Mae Posey Caughey, Mitch grew up with a strong work ethic and adventurous spirit. After graduating from Richland High School, he served four years in the Navy. Upon his return, he worked as a locomotive engineer for the Rock Island Railroad before joining the Department of Defense, where he worked at General Dynamics and later at Bell Helicopter until his retirement in 2007.
Mitch was a man of many talents — a skilled welder, electrician, carpenter, and mechanic. He found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and especially building dune buggies and sand rails. He also took pride in gardening and landscaping, turning his surroundings into something beautiful.
Mitch is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marva; his son Laurel and wife Jessica; daughters Laura Parson and Lynn Anderson; grandchildren Jeremiah Devine, Amanda Peterson, Daniel Anderson, Jett Mitchell Caughey, and Laurelli Caughey; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Haywood Heifer and her husband Bruce, along with numerous extended family members.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Evan Mitchell Caughey, and his sister Mittie Thornton.
His kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed.
The Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M – 11:00 A.M March 22, 2025, Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. at the Center Point Church 7804 Mid-Cities Blvd. North Richland Hills, Texas 76180.
