Anthony (Tony) Charles Lillington of Kelowna, BC passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday November 19th, 2020. Tony recently celebrated a loving and adoring 61 years as the husband of his best friend Margery, and also a joyful 84th birthday together with his son Rob (Tony’s #1 fan) and Rob’s partner Dominique. To his family and other loved ones, he was someone who tenaciously battled through several health challenges later in life without complaint to spend as much time as possible as a gift to those who mattered most.
Tony is remembered by countless friends, ex-colleagues, golf buddies and neighbours as friendly, dependable & funny. He simply was the kindest and nicest of men, a consistent and generous distributor of joy to all while remaining stoic about his own burdens. An angling guide and classic sportsman, he was a tremendous athlete and talented gardener. Many recall him as a compelling storyteller, perhaps a secret Billy Joel ‘in-the-car’ backing vocalist, or a skilled and clever cribbage strategist. Rumours persist to this day (attributable to a smoldering handsomeness and trademark moustache) that he was employed as Burt Reynolds’ stunt double during the movie star’s most successful years.
In lieu of flowers, please pour yourself a glass of ale or wine and enjoy a great cheese with a fine cracker (as he loved to do at the end of the day), and if you desire you may make a donation in Tony’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca) or Ducks Unlimited Canada (www.ducks.ca ).
