Born in Winnipeg on June 13, 1930, Mom attended Gordon Bell High School where she met the love of her life, Ervin. They were married in 1949 and began the busy journey of raising a family of six children.
Mom was a wonderful homemaker and superb cook who created a home full of love, laughter and warmth. Everyone felt welcome when they came to visit 411 Aldine St. Mom worked in Ladies Fashions at Eaton’s Polo Park and was an avid curler at Deer Lodge Curling Club. A razor sharp and competitive card player, Mom enjoyed many years with her monthly Bridge group, traveling to The Lake of the Woods for their annual girls getaway weekend.
Following retirement, Mom and Dad moved to Kelowna in 2001 to enjoy the warmer climate. They made new friends, enjoyed card games, played golf, enjoyed the summer sunshine and feasted on the wonderful Okanagan fruits & vegetables.Mom was active at the former First United Church, volunteering her time in the office, Thrift Store, Pastoral Care Committee, Welcome Table and was a popular “cookie Grandma” for the children’s summer vacation school!
Mom lived her last five years at Missionwood Retirement where she was an avid Bridge player, enjoying many friendships and activities at the
Resort. She had a very special friend Mary Ward whose wisdom, laughter and love guided Mom gently through her final phase of life.
Predeceased by her beloved Ervin in 2018 and cherished sister in law Angie Duval in 2021. Audrey is survived by daughters Sharon Gluting (Chuck), Linda Bracken (Warren) Wendy Sherrington (Brian) Dawn Mussellam, and sons Glenn (Lavada) and Ron, as well as 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren (with another little one on the way in January.) There will be a small family gathering in Winnipeg in June, 2024 at Prairie Spirit United Church where both Mom’s and Dad’s cremains will be placed in their memorial garden. The family would like to thank Dr. Herman Mentz as well as all the staff of 4B at KGH. Your love and care of our mother in her final days was very much appreciated.
We love you, Mom and thank you so much for giving us life.
“May flights of Angels sing thee safely to thy rest.”
