Growing up, my grandma was always just next door. Everyday before school my brother and I would run over to her house and there would be pancakes, eggs, bacon and orange juice waiting at the table for us; and almost every Friday we had our 3P nights (pizza, popcorn and pop) which we would enjoy having while watching the Ice age series; and yes it was the ice age series every single time, nothing different. Every year in may, Grandma would also take us to Oyama fun days, she always tried to find all these little fun days for us to enjoy together, so you could say these were our little traditions we had made together. I am going to miss all our little adventures and all the day and nights we shared together. I love you and miss you so much Grandma, I am so glad that I got to give you the joy of having a great grandchild, seeing your eyes light up and that smile of yours everytime you saw her is and will always be priceless to me.

I feel it was an honour and a privilege to have known such a wonderful human being like you.
You were a living example of a good and true hearted friend.. Our friendship was filled with love and mutual reverence for each other. 
You were and always will be a true friend to me. Someone who would always be there and take time to listen, to help out, to care, someone who made others feel good and you were always able to cheer others up when no one else could. You were a friend with warm understanding and someone to trust. You would let everyone be themselves and you gave peace, hope and love to all that knew you. You will always be with me and I wish you all the best on your new journey.
My heartfelt sorrow and condolences go out to your family and your many friends that are dealing with losing you in physical form. I owe a great big thank you that comes from my heart and goes out to Brett and April for introducing me to their mother that treated me as family since we first met. My dear friend Barb and I shared many good times together filled with every mixed emotion imaginable but most of all love, happiness, laughter and cheer. I will always have wonderful memories of great times spent with my good friend Barb that I hope to be able to share with others by reminiscing for the rest of my days. She will live on in my heart and mind forever.. Barb was a gift that kept on giving she would always reach out and keep in contact no matter what the circumstances and through the trails and tribulations of life itself she always had an optimistic view and a heart filled with gold.. 
Heavy but never weighed down. Her spirit has been instilled in her children and all those that were close to her.

Farewell my beautiful aunty

You are the definition of what an auntie is.  Not taking things to seriously, having fun, and stirring the pot. As a true aunty, you taught me how to do the same. Corrupting the youngins, fearlessness. 

I will cherish all the memories we have shared together.  Me beating you at crib, you beating me at crib; you didn’t even cheat!  Our matches are not yet done.  

You’ve shown me what a true fighter looks like; with sass and attitude. I like to think I get that from you. 

The loss of your physical form does not mean the loss of our spiritual connection. I will forever be tied to you with the laughs, the smiles and memories we have shared. 

It is hard being the favourite and youngest. I get the least amount of time but I get the most love. I wouldn’t trade that for the world. As you are my favourite too. 

Aunty was good at busting my chops (no adulting) while making me feel very special. 

It was and is an honour to be your favourite as you are forever mine.  I’ll love you forever and always. 


My heartfelt condolences to Barb’s family and especially Lyle, Brett and April.  Barb and I were close co-workers for 15 to 20 years.  You were correct that Barb could be a little bossy at times but never mean. We had a lot of laughs over the years and were always supportive of each other throughout our friendship. After I retired and left Kelowna we drifted apart but always touched base with each other and if I went into the office it was always such fun to see her and catch up.  I think of her so often, whenever I see a picture of a wolf, eagle or northern lights,  a woman with fancy nails, someone ordering a rum and coke, or when I see the turn-off to the Owl’s Nest, she always comes to mind and that will never change. Barb and I worked together during some tough personal challenges and I am so grateful that the last 10 years of her life were so happy. She was a different lady. Always loved her Facebook posts, including that elf of hers over the holidays.  I will miss her but never forget her.  Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you all.
