Mom was married to Jonathan Waldner for 45 years. Her love and devotion to our dad was unconditional and in turn the same for her children and grandchildren. May mom rest in peace with dad and their little dog Maggie forever.
Beverly will forever be remembered and loved by her daughter Tracy (Marlowe), her son Michael (Scott), her grandchildren Nicholas and Jordan, her mother Elsie, her friend Mike L and her extended family and friends.
Beverly was predeceased by her father Ernie Santucci and her husband Jonathan Waldner.
As a child mom suffered from Polio and was very fortunate to recover and lead a normal life. She enjoyed visiting her grandparents who lived in Bridgeland and Scotsman hill and having her friends Kathy and Nancy to get into trouble with. Mom worked several years for the Alberta Wheat Pool prior to meeting our dad when she was roller-skating at Lloyds roller rink in Calgary. Our Dad met our Mom by accidentally crashing into her with several others, resulting in her arm being broken, he felt so bad he went to visit her in the hospital and the rest is history!!
Our mom enjoyed fishing and camping and going for long drives in the mountains with Dad. She loved cooking and would try out any new recipe she could find. She loved to knit, and would make us slippers, toques and blankets. She loved spending endless hours with her grandchildren Nicholas and Jordan playing games with them or taking them for walks or to the park . When they were older they had many a fishing adventure with grandma and grandpa.
As kids we spent many weekends camping and fishing with our parents and our family friends the Hagels. We kids enjoyed tubing down the Highwood River way more than the fishing that is for sure! We are so glad to have these memories of our family and friends.
When Dad passed away mom decided she needed a change of scenery even though she lived in Calgary her whole life. She moved to Kelowna, where her son Michael and son in-law Scott live. She thought maybe she would miss dad just a little less….She loved going to the beach and to Rowcliffe park with Michael and Scott. She loved being by the water and to see the beautiful flowers and greenspaces with them. She enjoyed going to Strathcona beach with Tracy when she would come to visit. She would always have to point out her favourite house next to the beach with the beautiful gardens. She said she could just stare at the flowers and gardens for hours.
Our Mom did the things she wanted in life, and she did them her own way right until the end. She was a good kind person, and those who knew her will remember her for her kindness and compassion toward others.
We wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to her family doctor, Dr Martin Horn, her kidney doctors at Kelowna general hospital. Dr. Michaud and Dr. Lyle and to all the nursing staff and care staff of unit 4A at Kelowna General. All of you were so kind and caring towards our mom who was so afraid to go to hospital. You showed her kindness, compassion and caring, when she needed it most. We hope you all know what a special care team you are and how much we appreciated all you did for our mom.
At our mom’s request there will be no memorial service. We encourage you to share condolences or share your stories here.
