It is with heartfelt sadness we announce that Bonnie passed away in Kelowna, BC, peacefully with her daughter Shannon by her side. She was 79 years old.
Bonnie (or Nana Banana as her grandson would say) was not just a woman of years, but a timeless spiritual being who recognized the eternal nature of the soul. Her profound understanding of the interconnectedness of all things brought comfort to those who sought her guidance. She lived a full life and never lost her sense of adventure. In earlier years Bonnie was a great skier, loved camping and being out in nature. Walking on the beach with the sun on her face was something she looked forward to the most. Every morning, Bonnie would walk to the store, grab the paper to do her crossword puzzle, and feed the family of ducks who promptly waited for her every morning..Bonnie was a private person but lunches with her dear friend Maureen were a cherished tradition. Her yearly trips to visit Sid, and long phone conversations with Joanne, were all filled with laughter, shared stories, and the warmth of companionship. Bonnie and her son spoke on the phone 3 nights a week, where Bonnie would share stories and they often joked about life, death and getting old. She shared stories about her work, which was simply something to keep her busy, but she really enjoyed the people she worked with, often brought them snacks, and referred to them as "her tribe". Mom was funny and had no issues laughing at herself, especially in regards to her improper use of emojis.
Above all, our mother firmly believed that energy, the essence of our being, undergoes transformation rather than termination, and embraced the idea that life is a continuous journey, and though her physical presence may no longer be with us, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Bonnie made it very clear to her children what she wanted, so no formal service will be held. The family will have a private gathering in the spring to honor her specific wishes.
