RICHARDS: Brian Geoffery. The family sadly announces to all who knew Brian that he passed peacefully on Aug 29th 2025. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy of 65 years, and his four children, Geoff Richards (& Jill), Kim Morey (Bill), Barry Richards (Christine), Kristine Wolf (Jake). Brian had 8 Grand children he loved and cherished. Matthew Morey (Brittany), Stuart Morey (Katie), Taylor Richards, Chelsey & Justin Richards, Hannah, Abigail &, Levi Wolf.Brian was also blessed with 5 Great grandchildren, Averi, Reece, Kyle, Alaina & Maxton.
Brian was born October 15th 1940 in Vernon BC. As a young man, he joined the Air force and move to Ontario for his basic training. He was always very proud of the training, skills, education and life lessons he received there. It was there where he met and married a young beautiful Judy Herbert who became the love of his life. With a young family in tow, he moved back to BC from Ontario in 1969. He worked at various odd jobs before getting hired at BC Tel (now Telus) where he worked for approximately 33 years until he retired.
He loved his long nature walks with his family, friends and usually had a 4 legged companion. For a while, like his mom and dad, he was involved in Scouts Canada because of his love for nature and the values they instilled in young ones. For years both Brian and Judy were also part of a choir group that brought lively entertainment and joy to so many people up and down the Okanagan valley. He loved to dress up and sing songs from the past.
Brian will always be remembered for a number of things: his support of the underdog or someone in need. His firm belief in equity for all, that Canada is the best country in the world. And of course, being very cautious with his choice of words but very argumentative at times, with a little laughter to follow. I guess one could even say, Brian could be a little stubborn at times.
Those who knew him well, can remember that he loved to debate most topics. He especially loved debating politics; best political party to support! He definitely had his favourite, and sometimes he just loved to debate for the sake of debating!
Brian loved and enjoyed many things in his 85 year lifetime, but none of them were as important as his true found love for his family. He found joy in every moment he spent with his family. Just one example of his love for his family was that he would always conclude his phone calls with a heartfelt “I love You Dear!” Brian not only loved his family unconditionally, he welcomed with open arms all his children’s friends as his own. He in a way became a loving, caring, and patient Grandpa to them also.
If you knew Brian, personally, please take a moment and think of a positive experience you had with him, and if you like maybe share it with us in the condolences comment section. The family thanks you for taking a moment to remember him.
There will be no formal service arrangements, the family will hold a small celebration of life in the future most likely at Whatchan lake, his favourite camping spot.
