Brunhilde Jassman (BJ) McGill was born September 11, 1946, in Eutin, Germany. BJ is survived by her husband Steve, her brother Horst (Donna), her three stepchildren, Cody (Sarah), Tom and Melissa, and her grandchildren Jordan and Zach.
BJ came to Canada in 1954 with her parents, Margret and Robert Jassman, and her little brother, Horst. BJ graduated high school in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. After high school, she studied at the Banff School of Arts, where she fell in love with the mountains and honed her skills as an artist. As a young woman, she spent time in Vancouver working in pubs and bars, developing her amazing culinary skills with her mother and finding herself as an artist. Her artistic passions were seen in her medium of choice, pottery.
In 1980, she moved to and settled in the Okanagan Valley. In the Okanagan, she met the love of her life, Steve McGill. They married in 1982 and built their dream home in Westbank (West Kelowna), with large flower and vegetable gardens and a pottery studio where she could create her beautiful works of art.
Steve and BJ had 42 happy years together, living their dream. She was an awe-inspiring woman, unapologetic and true to herself. BJ was greatly loved by many, and she will be dearly missed.
