Carol Lynne Binne

BINNE: (Swanson) Carol Lynne May 24, 1947 – May 5, 2022. We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our cherished wife, mom and "Ma". Carol passed away peacefully at home after a very short battle with Cancer. Our precious time together ended too soon. We would give anything for more time with her.

Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Larry. They were soulmates and had just celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on May 1st. Also survived by son Scott Binne (Deena), their children Ryley (18) and Libby (14) and daughter Karen Altwasser (Tyson), their children Aliyah (15) and Keston (13). Carol took great pride in her family and we are a tribute to her. She helped to shape us all with her nurturing ways.

Carol is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Fran Swanson and her twin sister Joanne whom she missed dearly. Survived by her brother Jim (Sherry) and dearly beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews (Shauna, Stacey, Ryley, Deidre and Kevin). Also, predeceased by her in-laws Fred and Emma Binne.

Carol was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and she had fond memories of growing up in the Wildwood area. After a trip to B.C. with her sister, Carol dreamed of moving west with her family. Once married, Carol and Larry moved to Leamington, Ontario where both of their children were born. Carol's dream came true when they moved their family to Vancouver, B.C. in 1977 and then settled in Westbank, B.C. in 1980. Carol loved the Okanagan.

Carol spent her career working as an occupational therapist with the majority of her years at the Kelowna General Hospital working on the McNair unit. She was very proud of her involvement with the outpatient life skills program. Many of her colleagues became lifelong friends.

Carol enjoyed hosting family events, traveling (cruising), golf, playing cards with friends and cheering on her grandchildren at their special events. "Ma" was their biggest cheerleader. Some of Carol's best times were spent at their vacation home at Venture Out in Mesa, Arizona. She loved having family come and visit her there. Carol spoke so fondly of her Mesa friends and memories.

Carol was the heart and soul of our beautiful family. She lived for her loved ones and nothing mattered more. Carol will be fondly remembered by many for her smile, caring ways and kindness towards others.

We will forever Love You to the Moon and Back and Back Again. Your memory will live on in all of us.

At Carol's request we will not be having a memorial service. There will be a family gathering for the internment at the Kelowna City Cemetery at a later date. She had her "condo with a view and room for two" all picked out. It is a beautiful spot for family to visit. A place where she will one day hold hands with the love of her life again.

The family would like to thank her family doctor, Dr. Johan du Plessis, Drs. David Hoegler and Mike Banwell and Barbara Campling at the B.C. Cancer Clinic and the Nurses and Therapists with the Palliative Care Program in Kelowna. Carol spoke so highly of you all and appreciated your efforts on her behalf.
