It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandpa, brother, husband, and friend, Carter Hugh Lyon. Carter passed away on March 22, 2023, in Kelowna, BC, with his family by his side.
Carter was born on December 11, 1957. He was a passionate, dynamic, and charismatic man who never let us forget how handsome he was. He filled every room he entered and touched the hearts of many throughout his life. He was a gifted storyteller who loved to make people laugh. His greatest joy in life came from raising his children and, most recently, becoming a grandpa. He took great pride in being the best father he could be and was not just his children's father but also their best friend. Carter is survived by his son, Brett; daughter, Madison; son-in-law, Shane; grandson, Halston; brothers, Trent and Jeff; and former spouse, Liuba.
Carter had a love for the rink. He played hockey as a young man and coached numerous teams over the years. He was Brett's biggest supporter throughout his hockey career and recently got the chance to teach his grandson, Halston, that the stick goes with the ball. Carter would travel from rink to rink through snowstorms for Madison's figure skating competitions and loved every minute of it. His love for sports will live on through the countless stories he shared, the people he met, and his grandson, Halston.
Carter's family wishes to express their gratitude to friends and family for their love and support during this heartbreaking time.
Carter loved without boundaries, and his love was contagious. If you were lucky enough to be loved by Carter, hold that memory close. One of Carter's favorite things was watching the Arizona sunsets. The next time you catch a sunset, please remember that "a sunset is proof that an ending can sometimes be beautiful, too."
Goodnight, sweet Carter Lyon.
