Clarence Ivan Gates

April 15, 1921 to October 17, 2016

It is with great sadness that we must share that our beloved Dad , Clarence Ivan Gates,

passed away peacefully on October 17, 2016 in West Kelowna, at the age of 95 years old. He was

residing at Brookhaven Care Home in West Kelowna and spent his last months visited

by loving family, long time friends and the extremely caring and attentive staff at Brookhaven.

Ivan was born in Beattie, Kansas and grew up in Milden, Saskatchewan, where he discovered his love for

camping, fishing, and animals, especially his Shetland ponies. Ivan will be remembered for many things, especially his love and talent for music. His Barbershop Quartet days are some of his fondest memories. We will all remember his ability to fix anything, or find it

at a garage sale! Ivan joins in heaven his parents and 9 cherished siblings. Ivan will be dearly missed by sons Michael (Cathy); Kevin; and Alyson (Lloyd) as well as Grandchildren Michael, Danny, Jenifer, Megan, Lane, and Great Grandchildren; Morghan, Ayden, Ryder,

Lydia, Hailey and Avery, his partner of many years Donna, and extended family of much loved nieces and

nephews and many other close family and friends. Ivan was an amazing Partner, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle and friend to so many. His love and

zest for life was apparent in the full life he led . His fun and charismatic personality drew others to him

throughout his life, and we will all miss the twinkle in his eye, and the songs in his heart! Full of kindness

and compassion, Ivan was always ready to share a loving word and touch of a hand.

Ivan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.. he touched so many hearts and his loving and

gentle ways will never be forgotten ..

When asked what message Ivan would like to leave for us, his words were:

“Thank you. I love you. I am always with you. See you again”.
