O to be by the sea again, the restless tossing sea
Where the wind can clear your tangled mind
And set your spirit free
Where the raging tide can somehow
Ease the ache within your heart
For you know the hand that lifts the wave
Can also peace impart - Violet Holmes ‘83
David: legend, sailor, dashing charmer
Jack-of-all-trades, master of one – life –
David grew up in Kelowna, youngest in the large family of the late Mary and Bernhard Neufeld. His widowed mother loved him unconditionally and her unwavering faith kept him in the fold despite his many diversified jobs in near and far-flung locations; Kelowna, Castlegar, Vancouver, Gulf of Mexico, and Texas come to mind.
Extended family and countless friends remained a constant connection. Dave has left behind his first family: Anne, son David, and daughter Wynne. His second family: Donna, two sons, Darin, and Dustin.
Dave spent many hours with his youngest son Dustin, daughter in law Nicole and grandson Xander; they were there for him to the end.
Dave lost his battle to COPD and cancer but he lived a full life until the end. When he could no longer walk any distance or even risk driving, He got around on a motorized ‘chariot,’ maintaining his independence, and remaining active, even still in the Social Club in the K-Tower where he lived.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his ready smile, his hearty laughter, and for the mischievous twinkle in his eye! He was dearly loved.
…
In the words of Nicole Leanne Bayer -
“Goodbye Dad (David Neufeld)
You left us today and are sailing that ship in heaven.
I feel very lucky to have had you in my life.
I know you are at peace now"
There will be no service held, as per the wishes of David.
