Andrew, Rob and family, 
I can’t share how deeply sorry we are for your loss.  The Corke family is incredibly grateful to have had Dot, your mom in our lives.  
She was always a constant source of fun, kindness and generosity, bringing joy and laughter to every shared event.  She will always be remembered for bringing fun and laughter to us all.  Her loyalty to Mom as her friend and business partner fill us with so many memories of all the events. 
Your moms enthusiastic participation in all the crazy theme parties was the stuff of legend.  
Mom fondly remembers their weekly calls.  Dot called mom every Sunday just to catch up, share stories and keep each other posted on all the family happenings.  
I was fondly remember just being with her and mom, the laughter and the way Dot added small tsks to every response or story.    They shared grand adventures. 
She wasn’t just a friend – she was family to the Corke’s.  She will be sorely missed and very fondly remembered.   We will carry her with us in everything we do.

 Dot was terrific at ad lib and had the best laugh.  She possessed a wonderful, dry humour
 I was honoured to have known her even briefly for a couple of years. She is missed.  The world has lost a good one


Susan Allen

I’ve affectionately called her #1, since I was a little girl in the 1970’s. The Steenwyks were friends who have always been more like family. My older sisters and my mom worked for them at the Windmill Bakery and our moms later became partners in their catering/event business Dolenes. We vacationed together regularly in Birch Bay. I have precious memories of their beautiful airstream, the pool at the trailer park, the roller rink, the beach and the candy store with the peanut butter fingers wrapped in white chocolate. We used to love laughing at the antics of the young men and women cruising the strip,  while we ate ice cream and watched them flirt and rev their engines.   When #1 wanted to attend an event, she often took me, as Rob and Andrew were busy with pals.  I particularly remember the magic of the performances  like Hello Dolly, Cats and Beatlemania. She then hired me to work with her at her Orange Oasis business in the Town Centre Mall. She mentored my work ethic and filled my formative years with great fun and I’m grateful for all I learned from her. She made the most exquisite cake for our wedding day and  was delighted to know Rick and to share in our children’s  lives too.  I have loved her my whole life and I am so grateful for all the time she shared with me.

So sorry to hear of Dorthy’s passing. She was a great lady. Truly amazing even after her blindness.
