It is with deep sadness that the family of Edwin (Ed) Homme announce his passing on September 9, 2023, at the age of 89. Ed will be lovingly remembered, and forever missed by partner, Jane, sisters Gena and Astrid, Son Doug, Daughter Laura (Tim), grandchildren Sarah (Stacy), Guy (Erica), Joe (Brittney), Ben (Claire), Haeli (Kyle), Kristin, Daphne, and great grandchildren Carter, Olaf, Eli, Scottie, Róisín, and Sidney. Ed was predeceased by his wife, “Sue”, daughter Cindy, brothers Olaf and Knut, and daughter-in-law Lori.
Ed was born in his home at the farm in Hythe, Alberta. The fourth of five children, he had many stories about farming life and having to share a horse with Knut as the children all rode to their one room school house. As a young man, he served proudly as a navigator in the RCAF in North Bay, Ontario before embarking on a career with Shell Canada that took him with his young family from Winnipeg to Prince George, B.C. After retirement, Ed moved to Kelowna where he spent many hours golfing, curling, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying being an active member of the local Legion.
Quick witted, reliable friend, a guy who could fix anything (or, at least gave it a good try!). Loving partner, brother, father, and Papa. We love you, miss you, and thank you for the many, many things you have taught us all about the gift of kindness, the importance of family, and the value of always striving to do our best. Forever in our hearts, your memory is a treasure for us all.
The family will hold an intimate gathering to celebrate Ed at a later date.
