OBITUARIO

Eleonore Gertrude Ross

7 octubre , 19348 junio , 2021

Eleonore "Laura" Stebner Ross nee Marquardt Our dancing queen passed away peacefully with family by her side. Born October 7 1934 in Odessa Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1955. She was a quiet woman, hard working and kind. She devoted her time to various careers over the years as an Avon Lady, department store clerk, farmer, and charming cafe assistant. But her most important role was always that of mother. Mom uncomplainingly put up with a house run with the traffic of loud boisterous children of various ages and their many accomplices, blaring music and band practices shaking her well tended home. She would prepare feasts of pirogies, halopchies, dumplings, sauerkraut, endless baking and always the amazing Sunday torte. All while carefully treading around her many beloved pets and strays, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens that were always underfoot. She was our mom, our hero, and our sense of calm. Loved by so many. We cherish the memories. She will always be with us. Predeceased by her daughter Lucy 1959-1960 and her husband Joe Ross 1924-2015. Survived by her children Arno (Lynette), Helga (Peter), Heidi (Sam), Monika (Rick), Angela, mom's companion at Cottonwoods George Halter, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Cottonwoods for going above and beyond for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cottonwoods Care Centre or SPCA

Our deepest condolences to Eleanore’s family with her passing. She was a lovely lady who will be missed.
My husband and I and family live in Athabasca, Alberta. Eleanore was with John B , my uncle, until his passing in Kelowna.
My husband Bob, my brother John Bosik and I drove up for Uncle John’s memorial in the legion. We met Eleanore’s family briefly then and fondly recall the beautiful tribute given to John with the legion members playing fiddles and the kids singing. God Bless to you all
