

September 1933 – April 2016
It is with heavy hearts and much sorrow that we announce the passing of Fred Crone of West Kelowna, BC, at the Kelowna General Hospital on April 14, 2016. Fred is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Shirley, of 37 years; one stepson Ronald Leask of Devon, Alberta; two sons, Glen (Cita) Crone of Regina, Saskatchewan and Bill (Joanne) Crone of Winnipeg, Manitoba; one daughter, Darlene Crone-Todd (Barrie Todd) of Salem Massachusetts; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Ellen (Jerry) Merrill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his father, mother, and one son.
Born in Seattle, Washington, Fred’s family moved back to Vancouver, British Columbia in his early years and Fred attended school, and university in Vancouver. After graduation from university, Fred served with the United States Air Force in the United States as well as Germany, and he received his Honourable Discharge. As Fred’s father had passed on, Fred returned to Vancouver to take over the Presidency of Crone Moving & Storage.
In later years, Fred became a real estate broker and mortgage broker in his own company in Edmonton, Alberta, completing company merges and acquisitions and was an active member of the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association. Also, Fred was a management consultant, and enjoyed analyzing companies’ operations, including their financial situations, together with assisting company reorganizations.
Fred and Shirley moved to West Kelowna, BC in 2009. They enjoyed travelling in their diesel pusher motor home, and spent winters in Arizona, where you could always find Fred on a golf course.
Pursuant to Fred’s request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a graveside prayer with interment at the Masonic Cemetery in Vancouver, BC at a date to be determined. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
